need exam info

Postby Rangana on Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:55 pm

Hi Guys,

I have planned to finish my ccnp certification before jul 2010 and planned to do my first ccnp exam (bsci) on end of february. my problem is my ccna certification will expire on 18 april 2010. Is it possible to continue do my ccnp after the expiration of my ccna exam or do i need a valid ccna certification to continue ccnp?

Thanks in advance.

Rangana,

passing any CCNP exam (any 642-xxx) automatically extend your CCNA for 3 years - as long as it is still valid at exam day
so if you pass any of the exams before April 18th you are good to go
since you only start I suggest considering TSHOOT exam with any of the optional combinations under the new plan

Taking the BSCI exam will renew your CCNA as long as you pass the test or any other before the actual expiration of the CCNA. That's the beauty of Cisco certs, each successful exam renews any currently held unexpired certs.

Rofi,

thank you for the information.
I have decided to sit for bsci and bcmsn exams which i have already studied and do the new TSHOOT exam to complete the CCNP.
what do you think?

since BSCI and BCMSN are only available before July 31

I think you're doing the right thing taking them first.

about TSHOOT there are many opinions, I personally think that if time permit ISCW and ONT have good and important materials that any CCNP shoould know but I do realize TSHOOT is more real-life oriented and most candidates will take it at this point. you can use my BSCI labs

for your studies.
